Data integration for digital twins
Just a heads-up—this section is still a work in progress! I’ll be revising and expanding it soon to make sure it’s as useful as possible. Curious about what’s already done or currently in the works? Check the changelog for updates.
A Digital Twin is fundamentally data-driven; its accuracy and utility are directly proportional to the quality, timeliness, and comprehensiveness of the real-time data that fuels it. The continuous flow of this accurate data is, quite literally, the lifeblood of your live modeling system. This section focuses on the critical aspects of data integration, starting with detailing the key data streams that are typically required.
These include, but are not limited to, live pressures from various points in the network, flow rates from major pipes and pump stations, water levels in your storage tanks, the operational status of your pumps (on/off, speed) and control valves (open/closed, setpoints), and potentially real-time water quality parameters like chlorine residual or turbidity.
