This section dives deep into the function and significance of these often-overlooked heroes of the network.

We’ll start by exploring their primary role in balancing the continuous supply from treatment plants with the highly variable demand from customers throughout the day and night. Without tanks, sizing pumps and pipes to meet instantaneous peak demands would be incredibly inefficient and expensive.
