Having a well-thought-out plan is essential, but you also need the right tools for the job when it comes to field testing. This section provides a comprehensive overview of the common instruments and equipment you'll use to gather that invaluable hydraulic data directly from your water distribution system.
We'll start with pressure measurement devices, ranging from the classic, simple manual Bourdon gauges (great for quick spot checks) to sophisticated digital pressure loggers. These loggers are workhorses, capable of continuous recording over hours, days, or even weeks, capturing those all-important diurnal pressure curves and system responses to operational changes.
