Leveraging SCADA & telemetry

✏️Course in Development

Just a heads-up—this section is still a work in progress! I’ll be revising and expanding it soon to make sure it’s as useful as possible. Curious about what’s already done or currently in the works? Check the changelog for updates.

In the modern era of water utility management, many systems are equipped with sophisticated supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems and extensive telemetry networks. These systems provide a continuous stream of real-time (or near real-time) operational data, offering a window into the dynamic behavior of your network.

This section explores how you can effectively leverage this existing goldmine of information to complement and enhance your dedicated field testing campaigns and, ultimately, your hydraulic modeling efforts. We'll discuss the typical data available from SCADA — like flows from major pump stations and treatment plants, pressures at key strategic points, water levels in storage tanks, and the operational status (on/off, speed) of pumps and automated valves.
