This section aims to bring all the concepts from this chapter to life by featuring practical applications and illustrative case studies. We’ll explore examples where meticulous and accurate model building was instrumental in resolving specific network challenges.

Imagine, for instance, how a well-constructed model helped a utility identify a series of hidden closed valves that were causing widespread low-pressure problems, or how another utility used their model, built from accurate customer and GIS data, to pinpoint areas with unusually high water use that turned out to be significant unbilled consumption or major leaks.
