Comparing algorithms

✏️Course in Development

This page is currently empty, but don’t worry — it will be written soon! Stay tuned for updates, and check the changelog to see what’s in progress.

As we've seen, there isn't just one single way to solve the equations of a pipe network; different numerical algorithms and formulations exist. Do these differences matter to you as a user? Sometimes they do, especially if your modeling software gives you options to choose between different solvers or to tweak solver parameters.

This section will offer a qualitative (and somewhat generalized) comparison of the common algorithmic approaches we've discussed, considering their typical trade-offs in terms of three key performance characteristics: solution speed, robustness, and memory requirements.
