Why is there such a strong focus on what happens to water after it leaves the treatment plant? Isn't treated water inherently safe? This section looks into the critical reasons why actively maintaining high water quality throughout the entire distribution network — all the way to the customer — is paramount for any water utility. The discussion will, of course, center on public health protection.
The journey through miles of pipes and storage tanks can present numerous opportunities for water quality to degrade if not properly managed, potentially compromising the safety of the water.
